Study Permit
What is a Study Permit?
A Study Permit is a visa that allows international students to study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada while also providing opportunities for part-time work and post-graduation employment.
Canada’s education system is among the best in the world, offering students access to top-ranked universities, career-oriented colleges, and research institutions. Many international students use the Study Permit as a pathway to permanent residency, leveraging work experience gained through the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
To qualify, students must obtain an acceptance letter from a DLI, demonstrate financial stability to cover tuition and living expenses, and meet immigration eligibility requirements. Some programs may also require language proficiency tests like IELTS or TOEFL.
Studying in Canada provides long-term benefits, from world-class education and employment opportunities to potential immigration pathways, making it a life-changing investment for students worldwide.
With a valid Study Permit, students can:
- Study at a recognized institution (DLI). Work part-time during academic terms and full-time during scheduled breaks.
- Apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after completing their studies.
A Study Permit is not a visa – students may need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for entry into Canada.
